Printed in 1450-1455 by Johannes Gutenberg and Johannes Fust, the Biblia Latina, known as the "Gutenberg Bible" is the oldest printed book in the library's collections. It was purchased by Henry E. Huntington in 1911 for a record $50,000. The Huntington copy is one of eleven surviving copies printed on vellum, and one of three such copies in the United States. You may read more about it here.
